The second National Conference of Adult Education, held Timisoara on 17^th -19^th of November 2006, entitled Adult Educator – status, roles, competences, provocations, was a reference event in the field of adult education. The event raised a lot of interest, gathering more than 130 participants, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Research, Ministry of Labor, providers of continuing education, researchers, academicians but also theoreticians and practitioners in this domain, from public and private institutions, professional associations, foundations etc. Even though it was conceived as a national conference, we were glad to have famous experts from Germany, England, Italy, Czech Republic and Spain, who developed complementary points of view on the experiences, problematics and on the actual level of professionalisation of the adult educator in the European context.
