THE EUROPEAN MASTER IN ADULT EDUCATION

 


Useful information:

  • Matriculation: first period 6th  – 28th  of July 2011, at The West University of Timisoara, street Vasile Parvan, no.4                              second period 9th - 18th of September 2011, at The West University of Timisoara, street Vasile Parvan, no.4
  • The admission period is 19th - 23th of September 2011
  • Teaching language:  Romanian and English
  • Master terms: 4 semesters (the forth semester is dedicated for research and Master Degree paper elaboration)
  • The classes take place at an intense pace at the end of the week (but not every week-end) and once a semester an intensive week of face-to-face interaction will take place
  • The programme has a large amount of resources, foreign teachers, an online serial of conferences during the International Course of Lectures, given online, on a moodle platform by the Duisburg – Essen University
  • At the end of the European Master Program, the graduates will obtain a European Master Diploma acknowledged by the Universities mentioned above
  • The European Master is accredited by ARACIS
  • The scholarship fee is 3000 RON/ year.


Aim
The aim of the EMAE programme is to qualify its students for professional work in European contexts in the field of adult education and learning. The students will acquire the theoretical knowledge and the practical skills enabling them to act in specific areas of professional practice in this field. They will acquire the necessary cultural-reflexive skills to act in an intercultural context. They will become aware of the opportunities that Europe offers as a potential labour market to adult educators, and will be able to use these opportunities.

 

Graduate’s Profile
EMAE graduates will work in a variety of jobs that are directed towards enhancing the learning of adults in Europe. EMAE graduates will typically engage in careers as researchers, administrators, counsellors, instructors, and programme planners.

 

Target groups
The graduates who are included or desire to work into the next domains:

  • Higher Education
  • Public Administration – Ministries, inter-ministerial workgroups;
  • Accredited institutions for Lifelong Learning programmes
  • Any institution, center, club which offer formative programs for adults.

Programme Structure
The EMAE is a 120 ECTS study programme. The programme consists of the parts

A) Core fields of Adult Education in Europe (25 ECTS)
B) AE Research in Europe (5 ECTS)
C) Supplementary courses (50 ECTS)
D) Transnational Project Work (10 ECTS)
E) Master Thesis (30 ECTS)


Admission Requirements
Entrants must hold a degree equivalent to a B.A. In addition entrants must have at least a basic knowledge of education. This basic knowledge of education may be obtained in different ways – through a relevant B.A. degree programme, through work experience, or through supplementary studies. Entrants will have the abilities to speak and write in English, to work in Microsoft Word and on the Internet, to check and compose e-mails; the access to the Internet is a must.
